Hi I was looking for bed ideas for my family and came across your blog. I am Korean and we also co sleep with our one son and are having a second. Can you please explain how you made your mausoleum bed? I know you said you have two queen mattresses on pine slates from Ikea, but can you explain that or show me a picture? We have a king but it’s not enough for all 4 of us. I would love to put two mattresses together but I worry about the mattresses moving and a child falling in between. If you could help I’d greatly appreciate it!
Hi Susy, so sorry for not replying sooner. We have since changed our bedding arrangements but what we had then was 3 single slatted pine bases from Ikea on the floor and then 2 queen size mattresses on them. It wasn’t ideal because the dust gathered underneath and to clean, I had to lift everything up, mattresses and all. But it was a cheap family bed set-up so it served its purpose at the time. What we have now is a queen size bed and 2 single beds (1 on either side). They are bed frames that are off the floor so I can easily clean underneath now. I got them on Gumtree. We never had the problem of a child falling in between. You could put a folded blanket or sheet between the two mattresses I guess. Anyway, I’m sure you’ve sorted it out now. Once again, my apologies. I’ve stopped blogging for now (life and full time work has taken over) but I’m waiting for the inspiration and time to take it up again! Taiji and Kayo are now 10 and 6 and we still love co-sleeping. 🙂
